East Providence opens cooling centers through Wednesday

The City of East Providence is continuing to monitor forecasts indicating extreme heat throughout the early part of the week of June 23, 2025.

Considering this, the city has opened three cooling centers throughout East Providence. Those locations include the East Providence Senior Center (located at 610 Waterman Ave.), Weaver Library (located at 41 Grove Ave.), and the Riverside Library (located at 475 Bullocks Point Ave.).

All three cooling centers will be open through Wednesday.

If residents need transportation to any of the cooling center locations, you are asked to please call the non-emergency police line at (401)-435-7600.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986.
