East Providence earns seventh-straight convincing win at Homecoming

Posted

The East Providence High School football team continued its dominant D-II season with a 47-6 drubbing of West Warwick during the Homecoming game on Friday, Oct. 23.

It is the seventh consecutive victory for East Providence, the fifth game the team has scored 40 or more points, and the sixth time the Townies have kept their opponent to seven points or fewer. The only time an opponent scored more than seven points was a 40-14 victory over Tolman on Oct. 2.

The 7-1 Townies are in first place in Division II with 250 points against only 60 surrendered, which is fewer than half the amount of points surrendered by the next best defensive team (Burrillville, 126). Burrillville, fittingly, was the last team to keep East Providence from scoring 40 points (the Townies won 14-7 against the Broncos on Oct. 9) since the team’s second game of the season against Johnston (a 21-7 victory for East Providence on Sept. 11).

The Townies will close out their regular season against Woonsocket on Friday, Oct. 30 before heading into the playoffs on fire and feeling confident as one could imagine.
