Zelinda R. Bourdeau, 95, of Port Charlotte, Fla.

Zelinda R. Bourdeau, 95, of Port Charlotte, Fla., formerly of Bristol, R.I., passed away Thursday, July 15, at Parkside Assisted Living and Memory Cottage. Her daughter Darlene and son-in-law Dwight were by her side.

Born  in Port Colborne, Canada, she was the daughter of Frank and Adeline (Nenna) Verna, the wife of the late Marshall R. Bourdeau, the mother of the late Frank M. Bourdeau, the sister of the late Anna Ferreira and the late Valentine (Val) Verna.

She worked in the garment industry, Transcom Electronics and Alert Ambulance helping patients to appointments. She loved walking and doing word search puzzles and most of all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.

Besides her daughter, Darlene Fletcher (Dwight) of Port Charlotte, Fla., she leaves three grandchildren, Heidi Garrity (Thomas) of Port Charlotte, Fla., Tami Stallings (Glenn) of Warren, R.I., and William Orlando-Reno (Brian) of Punta Gorda, Fla. She also leaves seven great-grandchildren, Courtney Garrity, Michael Stallings, Shaun Garrity, Cassidy Stallings, Christian Orlando-Reno, Dominic Orlando-Reno and Noah Orlando-Reno, all of whom she loved equally. She leaves many nieces and nephews also.

Funeral services and burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Parkside Assisted Living and Memory Cottage, “Staff Appreciation Fund” 2595 Harbor Blvd, Port Charlotte, Fl 33952 in her memory.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
