Steven J. Grieve, age 70, passed away Monday, Nov. 16, 2020, in U-Mass. Memorial Medical Center. Born in Providence, a son of the late Archibald and Catherine (McDade) Grieve, he was the brother of the late John Grieve and brother-in-law of the late Stephen Mulvey. Steven was raised in Pawtucket and was a longtime resident of Bristol.

A graduate of Pawtucket West High School, he studied Administration of Justice at Roger Williams College and graduated the Rhode Island Police Municipal Training Academy in 1978. A detective for the Bristol Police Department for 25 years, retiring in 2002, he was the recipient of the Bristol Police Department Meritorious Service Ribbon and numerous commendations. With a sense of duty and attention to the youth of Bristol, he was a member of the R.I. Juvenile Officers Association, Inc.

A skilled diver, Steven was a member of PADI Certified Law Enforcement Scuba Divers and a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, Bristol Lodge #28. A dedicated civil servant, he touched many lives and was proud of the time he spent serving the people of Bristol and will be greatly missed.

Steven is survived by his siblings, Donald Grieve and his wife Barbara, Patricia Mulvey, David Grieve and his wife Milly, and sister-in-law, Pat Grieve; ten nieces and nephews; 21 great-nieces and nephews who loved their uncle Steve with all their heart. He is also survived by many special friends he considered to be family. 

Due to current restrictions, his funeral service and burial will be private and are in the care of the Wilbur-Romano Funeral Home.
