The 37th Annual Fourth of July Foot Races saw a good turnout of youthful runners on a beautiful day of competition. The winners for each age group were:

2-mile foot race (men)
1st Place: Jackson Cicchinelli (10:49)
2nd Place: Andrew Williams (11:27)
3rd Place: Gavin Stegall (11:53)

2-mile foot race (women)
1st Place: Kara Pisasale (12:23)
2nd Place: Julianna Haughton (13:14)
3rd Place: Jourdan Cicchinelli (13:33)

1-mile foot race (boys, age 10-12)
1st Place: Noah Rozea (6:17)
1st Place: Brody McCormick (6:17)
3rd Place: Charlie Jacobs (6:46)

1-mile foot race (girls, age 10-12)
1st Place: Rae McGinn (6:47)
2nd Place: Flynn Hancock (7:08)
3rd Place: Sophia Tucker (7:24)

1-mile foot race (age 7-9)
1st Place: Maxwell Moore (8:05)
2nd Place: Oliver Smith (8:16)
3rd Place: Cam McCue (8:17)

1-mile foot race (age 3-6)

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
