Rose Vollaro, 92, of Bristol

Mrs. Rose (Ruggieri) Vollaro, age 92, of Bristol, died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2020, at Silver Creek Manor, Bristol, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Andrew A. Vollaro. 

Born and raised in Bristol, R.I., she was a daughter of the late John and Mildred “Millie” (Federico) Ruggieri. Rose was a Warren resident for most of her life.

She was a seamstress for several years for the former Premier Thread Co., Bristol and worked for the former R&J Manufacturing Co., Warren. In later years she was a cafeteria worker for St. Luke’s School in Barrington, retiring at age 80.

She was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Bristol and loved playing tennis, swimming, enjoying the beach and loved to cook for family and friends. 

She is survived by a daughter, Paula J. Ziobro (Stanley) of Bristol and a son, Andrew A. Vollaro, Jr. (Cindy) of Middlefield, Conn.; a son-in-law, Shaun Flynn, of Charleston, S.C.; four grandchildren, Lindsay Jacobs (Michael), Jason Almeida, Andrew A. Vollaro, III and Sarah Barbagallo (Sebastian); three great-grandchildren, Sydney, Charlie and Shaun; and a sister, Katherine “Kitty” Murray of Bristol.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Cheryl Ann Flynn, a grandson, Michael A. Ziobro, and siblings, Etta Benevides, Michael Ruggieri, Aniello “Chips” Ruggieri and John Ruggieri.

Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood St., Bristol, are Friday, Feb. 14, 2020, at 10 a.m., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 141 State St., Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol.

Visitation will be Friday morning only from 9 to 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or online at www.stjude.org/memorial
