Robert Joseph Ilg, 84, of Bristol, R.I., formerly of Attleboro, Mass., passed away on Friday, July 2, 2021, at home.

He was the beloved husband of 50 years, to the late Rita (Coughlin) Ilg.

Robert Joseph Ilg, 84, of Bristol

Robert Joseph Ilg, 84, of Bristol, R.I., formerly of Attleboro, Mass., passed away on Friday, July 2, 2021, at home.

He was the beloved husband of 50 years, to the late Rita (Coughlin) Ilg.

Born in Montgomery, Minn., he was the son of the late John and Adele (Kotek) Ilg.

Mr. Ilg was a veteran of the U.S. Army and the U.S. Navy. He was a parishioner of St. Mary of the Bay Church in Warren. He was a member of the American Legion and lifetime member of the VFW.

Mr. Ilg had worked as the plant manager at Herff Jones Company for many years.

He is survived by two daughters, Mary Ilg and her husband Stephen Isabel of Bristol, R.I., and Ann Ilg of Penfield, N.Y.; two grandchildren, Benjamin Ilg and his wife Jessica Dobbins and Zachary Isabel; many nephews; a brother-in-law, Clayton Coughlin and his wife Darlene of New Hope, Minn., and his granddog, Duke.

He was also the brother of the late John “Jack” Ilg, and brother-in-law of the late Edward Coughlin and his wife Shirley.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 8, 2021, at 9 a.m., from Smith Funeral & Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Road, Warren, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m., in St. Mary of the Bay Church, 645 Main St., Warren.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, July 7, 2021, from 4 to 7 p.m., in the funeral home.

Burial will take place in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence, R.I.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.
