RIDOH announces White Castle recalls certain frozen burgers

PROVIDENCE — The Rhode Island Department of Health (RIDOH) is advising consumers that White Castle is recalling certain frozen six-packs of cheeseburgers, hamburgers, jalapeno cheeseburgers, and certain 16-packs of hamburgers and cheeseburgers because of possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination.

Listeria monocytogenesis an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy people may suffer short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths in pregnant women.

The recall impacts products on shelves at select retailers with best by dates ranging from 04 Aug 2020 to 17 Aug 2020. Any product with these dates is being removed from shelves. Any product with a best by date before or after these dates is not included in the recall. Lot codes and other information about the recalled products is available online. To date, no illnesses have been associated with these products.

Customers who may have purchased any of the products are urged to dispose of them or return them to the store where they were purchased for an exchange or full refund. Customers with questions can call White Castle at 1-800-843-2728.
