Richard “Rit” Andrade, Sr., 59

Richard “Rit” Andrade, Sr., 59, passed away peacefully on Nov. 6, at Newport Hospital with his loving family by his side. For the last 37 years Rit was the adoring husband of Dorothea (Rodrigues) Andrade.

Born in Providence, Rit was the son of Norbert and Claire (Capone) Andrade.

For many years he worked in the printing industry with the Bristol Phoenix, Narragansett Litho with his good friend, Donald Mosher, and then resigned from Auto Trader.

Rit was a kind soul who above all loved spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed the outdoors, especially gardening, camping, driving and walking through Colt State Park and walks with his best friend “Buddy.”

In addition to his wife Dorothea, Rit leaves behind two sons: Richard A. Andrade Jr and his wife AnnMarie, and Nathan A. Andrade and his wife Kianna, and seven grandchildren, Emma Rose, Caleb, Kalvin, Dante, Jarrod, Connor, and Gianna Dorothea. He also leaves behind his three brothers, Norbert Andrade, Jr and his wife Nancy, Matthew Andrade and his wife Linda, and John Andrade and numerous cousins and friends.

Rit is also reunited with his brother, the late Robert Andrade.

The family would like to send a special thank you to the nurses and staff at Lifespan Cancer Center for all their care and kindness.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2019, at 6:30 p.m. in the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood St., Bristol, R.I. Visitation will be held in the Sansone Funeral Home Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2019, from 4 to 7 p.m.

Contributions in Richard’s name can be made to the American Cancer Society of Rhode Island, 931 Jefferson Boulevard, Warwick, RI or the Lifespan Cancer Institute at 593 Eddy St., Providence, R.I. Also donations can be made to the Special Olympics, care of Bristol Baysiders.
