RIBridges data breach: what you need to know

Posted

In partnership with Gov. Dan McKee’s office, the Town of Bristol is offering two informational sessions to assist residents in understanding what the RIBridges data breach means and how those affected can protect and monitor their credit.

The data breach may affect those enrolled in various state programs such as HealthSource RI, SNAP, Temporary Cash Assistance, among others. Both sessions (you only need to attend one) will be brief and are open to Bristol residents only. They will be offered in Portuguese and English.

Session I is on Tuesday, Jan 21 at 6 p.m., and Session II is on Friday, Jan. 24, at 2 p.m. Both sessions are at the Quinta-Gamelin Community Center, 101 Asylum Road. Call the community center at 401/253-1611 to reserve a seat.

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
