Paul R. Vollaro Jr., 44, of Bristol

Paul R. Vollaro Jr., 44, of Bristol, R.I., passed away, Thursday, July 22, 2021.

Born in Providence, R.I., he was the son of Paul R. and Elaine L. (Cairrao) Vollaro, of Bristol, R.I.

Paul worked as a firefighter and paramedic for the City of Pawtucket for many years. He had also served as a volunteer for 26 years with the Defiance Hose Company of the Bristol Fire Department. 

Besides his parents, he is survived a son, Mason A. Vollaro; three daughters, twins Brianna L. Silveira and Brittany L. Silveira, and Hailey A. Vollaro, all of Bristol, R.I.; and a brother, Barry L. Vollaro of Tiverton, R.I., and his former spouse, Linda Vollaro of Bristol, R.I.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, July 26, 2021, from 4 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 26, 2021, at 7 p.m. in Smith Funeral & Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Rd., Warren, R.I.

Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Bristol Firemen’s Memorial & Welfare Committee, 4 Anawamscutt Drive, Bristol, RI, 02809.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
