No Kings rally this Sunday

Posted

To the editor:

On behalf of BluHope Rising Alliance, a grassroots group I founded here in Bristol, but embracing the surrounding towns and cities, the community is invited to a peaceful rally on Sunday, June 29, at Independence Park from noon to 3 p.m. The rally will feature speakers, community outreach, music, and good ol' protest.

We are made up of a group of local residents that want a safer world for everyone. A world where we can speak out about our rights and freedoms that are currently under attack. Together we can help protect the democracy. We all deserve to live in a free and more empathetic world. You are not alone.

BluHope advocates for human rights and social justice issues. Our group is a safe place for the LGBTQIA community and marginalized groups. Here you can freely speak your truth.

Join us and your neighbors as we rally for our Independence!! Bring your friends in celebration of peace, freedom, and inclusion.

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
