The Mt. Hope High indoor track and field teams returned to regular season action post-holiday break with losses to Cumberland and Chariho in boys' and girls' Headley Division action Sunday, Jan. 5, at the Providence Career and Tech Academy Fieldhouse.

The girls fell 75-30 to Cumberland and 72-25 to Chariho while the boys dropped an 86-19 decision to the Clippers and 60-46 to the Chargers. Several Huskies, however, had personal best times or lengths/height in their respective events, according to coach Renae Cicchinelli.

Standouts Thea Jackson and Lola Silva recorded the lone individual wins for the locals in either meet.

Jackson easily took the girls' 55 meter dash in a time of 7.43 seconds, while Silva also handily captured the girls' long jump at 17 feet, 1.5 inches. Jackson was actually second with a distance of 16'6.25. Jackson, Silva and Emma Goglia also went 2-3-4 in the 55 hurdles.

Gavin Stegall had the top solo result for the boys, running second (1:33.04) in the 600 meters. Everson Goglia was third overall in the 55 dash (7.06) as was Jackson Cicchinelli in the 1,500 (4:32.44) and Quentin Smith in the 20-pound weight throw (35'2.75").

The latter two were PRs. Cicchinelli took 10 seconds off his previous best, while Smith threw two-feet better than he had previously.

The boys dropped to 1-5 in Headley duals while the girls dipped to 2-4.
