Michael David McDonald, 37, born on Dec. 16, 1981, went to be with the Lord on July 22, 2019. He leaves behind his mother, Lynne McDonald Rebelo and her husband, Vasco Rebello, and father, John McDonald Jr. He was the grandson of the late John and Delores McDonald of East Providence and Frank Andrews Sr. and Janet Andrews of Bristol.

Michael lived his life to the fullest, with a new adventure every day. He found tremendous joy in all outdoor sports, mostly hunting in the deep woods of Maine with his father, or riding through the woods of Maine on four-wheelers. He also found joy in mountain biking and hockey. He was an avid fan of the Patriots and Bruins.

Michael grew up in Bristol and graduated from Mt. Hope High School in 2000. He attended and graduated from New England Tech with a degree in Physical Therapy Assisting.

He will be remembered for his bright smile, his laughter, his quick wit and his big heart. He had a talent for being genuine, serious and sarcastic, all at the same time.

Friends and relatives all are invited to attend a Celebration of Michael’s life on Sept. 15, 2019, at Independence Park in Bristol, from 2 to 4 p.m.

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
