Mary Luciano, 96, of Bristol

Mrs. Mary (Vieira) Luciano, age 96, of Franklin Street, Bristol, died Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2019. She was the wife of the late Antonio F. Luciano.

Born in Bristol and a longtime resident, she was a daughter of the late Manuel L. and Anna (Pacheco) Vieira. She was a resident of Barrington for 30 years.

Mary was a jewelry worker for many years, spending her last nine years as an inspector for Trifari Jewelry Company in East Providence, retiring in 1985. She was a communicant of St. Elizabeth’s Church and a member of its Holy Rosary Sodality. 

She is survived by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Anna V. Fortin, Alice Correia and Philomena Torres, and a brother, Manuel Vieira. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial Saturday, Dec. 7, 2019, at 11 a.m. in St. Elizabeth’s Church, 577 Wood St., Bristol. Burial will follow in Maria Del Campo Cemetery, Barrington. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bristol Fire Dept. and Rescue Squad, P.O. Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
