Maria “Marie” Carmella (Vales) Lamora of Bristol, R.I., gained her angel wings on June 28, 2019. Born and raised in Bristol, she was a true Bristolian who loved celebrating many of the Fourth of July festivities with her family and friends.
Marie was the beloved wife of Andrew Lamora of Bristol and proud mother of Dennis Robert Souza-Lamora of Provincetown, Mass. Marie and Andy were married for 44 loving years. She was the daughter of the late Manuel J. Vales Jr. and Gloria (Moniz) Vales.
Marie was a former administrative assistant at Roger Williams College Open Program for 19 years and a teller at Old Stone Bank for many years.
In her free time, Marie enjoyed traveling, camping with her husband and friends, and celebrations with her family. Marie was always present for family events, especially for her nieces, nephews and great-nieces. She attended soccer games, dance recitals, award ceremonies and sacrament celebrations for her great-nieces, Morgan Jacqueline Vales of Barrington and Mekayla Marie Vales of Bristol.
She will be deeply missed by her brother, Manuel J. Vales III and his wife Jacqueline of Swansea, Mass.; nephew Manuel J. Vales IV and his wife Mary of Barrington; niece/goddaughter Lisa A. Vales of East Providence; niece Janine Vales-Neves and her husband Matthew of Bristol and many other Vales Family members.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass in celebration of Marie’s life Saturday, July 6, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, 330 Wood St., Bristol.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Marie’s name may be made to: Bristol Rescue, Paramedics and Fire, PO Box 775, Bristol RI 02809.
