Marcia Ann (Bickford) Torrey, 90, passed away in Providence, R.I., on Saturday, April 24, 2021. She was the wife of the late Arthur R. Torrey for 58 years before his passing. She spent the last 11 years with her companion, Harry Hoffman.

Born in Bristol, R.I., she was the daughter of the late Elsie (Dexter) and the late Charles Bickford.

Marcia was a graduate of Colt Memorial High School.  She served on the East and North Burial Ground Commission in Bristol for many years. Her love of reading was lifelong and she had a passion for Martha’s Vineyard, where she spent her summers as a child.

A true Bristolian, she was born in Bristol, met and married her husband at St Michael’s Church, and except for the years spent raising her daughters in Barrington, lived out her life in Bristol.

In addition to Harry, Marcia leaves behind her daughter, Jennifer P. Catanzaro (David); her grandchildren, Ryan Scott (Nika), Trevor Scott, Eliza Quick (Thomas) and Camden Pond (Tori Siravo); and her great-grandchildren, Easton Quick, Hayden Quick, and Kaja Scott.

In death, Marcia is reunited with her husband, Arthur, her daughter, Caroline Scott, and her parents, Elsie and Charles.

Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, May 5, 2021, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood St., Bristol. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name can be made to the American Heart Association or to St. Jude’s Research Hospital.
