Roundtable discussion starts at 2 p.m.

MIDDLETOWN — Join Looking Upwards to listen into a Rhode Island Rebounds event on early intervention services at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 21, at 438 East Main Road, Middletown, on the lawn beside the building.

Reeling from the continued impact of COVID-19 and acute fiscal and staffing issues, Rhode Island’s early intervention service providers are in crisis. This is impacting the youngest people who are in need of these services to succeed and thrive.

This roundtable discussion, led by Womazetta Jones, secretary of the Executive Office of Health and Human Services, will allow parents, employers, providers, and state leaders to share how this crisis is impacting them and potential solutions, including the use of American Rescue Plan funds, to stabilize the sector which is so critical to families and Rhode Island’s economic rebound.

Along with Secretary Jones will be Medicaid Director Shaffer, DHS Interim Director Celia Blue, and parents and staff from Looking Upwards will be in attendance.

Parking is available onsite, and masking is optional while outdoors. Contact Ashley O’Shea at Ashley.g.oshea@ohhs.ri.gov to confirm your attendance and if you have any questions.
