Letter: Trump political rallies were no distraction to motorists

Posted

A recent letter expressed concern for safety at Hope Street and Gooding Avenue during three separate, four-hour political gatherings there last week. She need not worry.

All participants were on the grassy area, away from the sidewalk adjacent to the road. The site was visible for hundreds of feet away as the roads are straight with a stop light.

Bristol Police vehicles, RIPTA and school buses all passed by without stopping because of any “Distractions.”

We did observe drivers talking on their cell phones while passing by us. This should be a greater concern if safety is truly our intention.
