To the editor:

In August of this year, my home was struck by lightning, causing it to be on fire.

I wasn’t aware of the fire until a neighbors, Alisa Travers and Zackery Anderson, came pounding on my door to alert my family to get out of the house.

The Bristol Fire Department was there right away and worked to save my home. Due to the quick response from their firemen, mostly volunteers, they confined the damage to the back of my home.

Jen Mancieri of the Ladies Auxiliary of the fire department helped my family find a place to be, as we couldn’t go back to the house. She contributed gift cards to help us through the ordeal. My neighbors, Renee and Jeremy, even took in my cat, as I could not take her with me. People donated clothes, gift cards, and supplies. Friends of Donna St. Angelo gave me duffle bags to put what I had in them.

How do I express my overwhelming appreciation to all those wonderful, caring people?

I have always felt the warmth and friendliness of Bristol, but was overwhelmed by the generosity and caring that I felt that night.
