How humbling it is to be told that others are more concerned about the well being of our citizenry and our little Oceanside hamlet than the rest of us. The Bristol County Concerned Citizens seem to be nothing but electioneering slogans with nothing to prove their concern, except some theatrical flag ceremonies and many lawn signs. 

The proponents of this new political movement seem to eschew their prior place among the now nationally disgraced Republican Party and are taking shelter in the thickets of the Independents. All we know of them is that they don’t embrace universal healthcare for us, only for themselves if paid for as a lifetime entitlement for past service, a not very enlightened position.

Equally they will encourage the hard labor of others but dispute the right of workers to earn a proper wage enough to raise a family. They portend to be patriots, but do not contest the police killing of innocent citizens just because of the color of their skin, and object strenuously to a woman’s right to determine her own choices regarding childbirth. 

I would be glad to hear these “concerned citizens” tell us what exactly they are so concerned about? How about gun violence, which has become a serious health issue only in the United States of America, and the enormous death toll caused by this pandemic that far exceeds other Western democracies? How about the very poor levels of public school education?

If these are your concerns, then throw away your useless slogans, and join us in the majority who are not only concerned but planning proper national programs to regain all the lost ideals and principles destroyed in the past four years by the Republicans under Trump.
