To the editor:

On behalf of the Bristol Middle Passage Port Marker Project, I would like to offer our deep gratitude and appreciation to the BeeHive Café for their generous donation towards our Bristol memorial sculpture. The generosity of the ownership of Sherry, Emily and John Scott is extraordinary. Their deep sense and practice in giving back is well demonstrated, only matched by the quality of their goods and services. The BeeHive is superb in all respects.

For the past two months they have been most generous in sponsoring local nonprofits by donating a percentage of their daily proceeds to groups like us, to assist in the mission of each group. This is the essence of community service.

The Bristol Middle Passage will install a sculpture at Independence Park addressing the town’s historic role in the slave trade, while honoring the African and Indigenous people who were harmed. This is part of our mission toward reconciliation and healing, which will be amplified by our ceremonies and events as part of our educational programming.
The contribution of the BeeHive will help us with the high costs of producing the bronze sculptures.

Thank you, Sherry, Emily, and John for your deep sense of community and giving to Bristol and its people. The Bristol Middle Passage is very grateful.
