Letter: Thanks for your support during unprecedented challenges

This month will be the end of my term as General Chairman of the Bristol Fourth of July Committee. These last two years were everything but ordinary. The dedication of the Bristol Fourth of July Committee continued this 236-year tradition through a global pandemic, not once but twice.

Many other organizations were not able to continue their annual events, but together we worked outside the box and safely continued the celebration. We are fortunate to live in beautiful Bristol among many dedicated and generous residents. We are thankful for the financial support and dedication of our sponsors and community.

I would like to thank the Town Administrator, Town Council, Bristol Police, Bristol Fire Department, DPW, Parks & Recreation maintenance, Sewer, and the Harbor Master. All these departments worked closely with the committee to work around the many obstacles of COVID.

It has been a humbling experience, one I will never forget. I am proud to have had the opportunity to lead such a dedicated and committed group of volunteers. In closing, I want to thank the 235th Chief Marshal Suzanne Magaziner and the 236th Chief Marshals Ken, Mike, and Steve Januario, for taking this journey along with me. I will never forget this historical time.
