I would like to thank the Bristol Town Council for authorizing the funds to purchase the 35-gallon trash and recycle bins at the town council meeting on Sept. 30. The number of residents who signed up for these bins exceeded the required minimum of 100. An order for 200 bins was placed and are due to arrive mid-October. Residents who signed up will individually be receiving notification from the DPW when the town will deliver the new bins and remove the larger bins.
I would also like to thank Steve Contente, our town administrator, and council members Mary Parella and Tim Sweeney for personally contacting me and working to address the needs of seniors like me. Thank you to the DPW for thoughtfully placing the order early enough so we will be getting the bins before the winter weather arrives.
Thanks also to a senior friend’s family who lives out of state for spreading the signup information to many Bristol residents through Facebook.
Thank you, Bristol Phoenix, for printing my letters. And finally special thanks to the Portuguese Times Director, Francisco Resendes, for responding to my request and writing the “how to sign up for the smaller bins” article in the Sept. 2 edition, and for placing it prominently on page 3.
