Letter: New superintendent has brought many positive changes

I have a few thoughts about our Interim Superintendent Dr. Jonathan Brice

I have only had the privilege of dealing with Dr. Brice on a few occasions. What I took from our interactions was valuable. In the short time that Dr. Brice has been with us, there has been an enormous amount of change within the Bristol Warren Regional School District in regard to attitude and hope within the district by administrators, teachers and parents alike.

It is clear that we now have the leadership that we so desperately needed and were lacking under the past administration. Under Dr. Mario Andrade, we were lost. Many issues were left unattended. Bullying was a big issue.  It was not dealt with.  Many that complained or tried to speak up were punished by the prior administration, and the children of those complaining would also suffer.

Here comes Dr. Jonathan Brice. Completely opposite of Dr. Andrade, Dr. Brice brings clear, concise and consistent efforts to better our district.  He has a three-plus-year plan to bring the school district up to the standards that we as parents deserve.  A student code of conduct has been put in place and is evolving on a regular basis to accommodate all students and teachers.

Dr. Brice, when asked a question, answers with certainty and integrity.  There is no run-around like the last administration. (I jokingly call Dr. Andrade “Chief talks in circles”). There is no confusion or speculation when dealing with Dr. Brice. Refreshing to say the least.

I would encourage all parents and taxpayers to contact their town council and school committee regarding the welcome and much needed efforts of Dr. Brice.  We need to drop the “Interim” part of his title and make Dr. Brice our choice for permanent superintendent of our district.
