I would like to respond to a letter to the editor dated July 9, titled “Who are these ‘Citizens’? Bristol voters deserve answers.”

First, the VFW is writing their own letter addressing things mentioned about their organization in said letter. Therefore, I will not be mentioning the VFW in this letter.

In January of this year, a group of individuals got together and talked about forming a committee to back local candidates in their election. There are committees in place, but we wanted to start with a fresh beginning.

We placed ads in the paper for anyone who had similar views to please get in touch with us. We had emails posted where anyone could open and get names of members.

Some of our view points we mentioned are as follows but not limited to:

• Ensure tax dollars are spent wisely, as many taxpayers are on fixed incomes;

• Provide all citizens with the highest quality of basic services;

• Provide our businesses with every tool to flourish;

• Keep our environment safe, especially our water ways;

• Ensure that our schools and education are correctly supported.

The letter painted us as an undercover fraternity. You cannot keep anything in Bristol a secret — believe me.

Letter-writing takes time and effort, and I will not be trapped in a he-said, she-said. With that in mind, I hope this is my last letter.
