Judith A. (Lombardo) Kupec, “Judi,” age 65, of Warren, passed away Saturday, Aug. 14, 2021, at Rhode Island Hospital after a lifetime of sharing her experience, strength and hope with others.  She was the wife of the late Christopher Kupec, who loved her in a way that no one else could. For 31 years, the two of them enjoyed their waterfront Bristol home and cherished each other’s company.

Born in Augusta, Maine, a daughter of the late Frank and Barbara (Gates) Lombardo, she was a graduate of Warren High School, Class of 1974.  After graduating from Rhode Island Junior College in 1976, she worked as a Registered Nurse in the healthcare industry for many years. A loving and capable caregiver for the elderly, she took great pride in the service she provided for veterans at the Rhode Island Veterans Home in Bristol, R.I.

Judi was an excellent cook, whose specialties included her family’s traditional Christmas Eve spaghetti and a colorful Easter Bunny cake.

Although unable to visit the beach as often as she would like, nothing made her happier than to sit in the sun for hours with a good book or three. Judi loved her dogs Marley and Bentley fiercely and was also especially fond of birds. Later in life, she truly enjoyed maintaining her relationships through social media.

She is survived by one daughter, Caitlin Toupin and her husband Brendan of Redondo Beach, Calif.; one son, Lawrence Kupec of Rhode Island; five siblings, Jaclyn Friedman-Lombardo and her husband Joseph, Dan Lombardo and his wife Linda Perry, Susan Grande and her husband Ken, Maria Lombardo-Geoppo and her husband Chuck, and Dianne Andrews; grandchildren, Bowen Toupin, Ethan Tucker, and several nieces and nephews.  She also had a special bond with her brother, the late John Lombardo.

Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 4, 2021, at 9 a.m. in the Wilbur-Romano Funeral Home, 615 Main St., Warren, RI. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. At the family’s request, they prefer all guests wear a mask.  Burial will be in St. Alexander’s Cemetery, Warren.
