Joseph T. Teixeira, 81, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Nov. 24, 2019, with his loving family by his side.
Joseph spent the last 59 years of his life with his adoring wife, Roberta (Manchester) Teixeira.
Joseph was the son of the late Joseph and Alice (Sousa) Teixeira.
On a stormy November day, Dad ran his final race into the arms of our Savior. Dad loved his family and friends, his church, his town, and the July Fourth celebration. Dad was a peaceful, kind soul.
His friends will remember his passion and dedication to running, laying down many miles around town and Colt State Park in the wee hours of the morning. Dad loved biking and hiking, celebrating his 75th birthday by summiting Mt. Monadnock. We will miss his smile deeply, knowing he will continue to watch over us as always.
Joseph was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the East Bay Chorus, and the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Choir. Joseph was also a member of the Bristol Rangers Drum and Bugle Corp and was a lifelong member of the Belle Watling Running Club. Joseph had a successful career designing cruise ships, high speed ferries, pilot boats, and police and fire boats.
In addition to his wife, Joseph also leaves behind his children, Bill Teixeira (Lorinda) and Nancy Teixeira, grandchild Liam Teixeira, and their faithful friend Sable. Joseph’s memory will also live on through his brother, Manuel Teixeira, and all his friends and acquaintances.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial in his honor held on Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2019, in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 141 State St., Bristol at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in the Cremation Garden at North Burial Ground, Hope Street, Bristol. Calling hours omitted.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his name can be made to the Visiting Nurse Home and Hospice at 1184 E. Main Road, Portsmouth, RI 02871.
