Jose Rebelo Bernardo, 89, Bristol

Jose Rebelo Bernardo, 89, of Bay View Avenue, Bristol, passed away on Jan. 17, 2022, at home. He was the husband of Maria Rosaria (Medeiros) Bernardo.

Born in Pico da Pedra, Sao Miguel, Acores, he was the son of the late Jose Bernardo Ferreira and Maria Gloria Rebelo. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Nelia Simas and her husband Emanuel of Bristol; Joseph Bernardo and his wife Debra of Florida; MaryLou Bernardo and Michael Terrell of New Bedford; Marguerite Brant of Bristol; grandchildren: Matthew Simas, Dylan Simas, Andrew Simas, Victoria Bernardo, Joseph Bernardo, Cassondra Bernardo, Ashley DeMoura, Nicholas DeMoura, Monica Rego, Veronica Rego, Jeffrey Brant, Edward Brant, Brittany Brant; and great-grandchildren: Ashtyn, Bailee, Winter, Brandon Jr, Zendaya, Briella, Gabriela, and Sofia. He was the brother of Altino Ferreira, Antero Ferreira, Oldemira Moniz and the late Mario Ferreira.

Mr. Bernardo was employed by Pearson Yachts and TPI before retiring.

His funeral service was held Jan. 22 from the George Lima Funeral Home, with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at St. Elizabeth’s Church. Burial followed in North Burial Ground. www.limafh.com
