Janet Grace Como, 83, of Warren

Mrs. Janet Grace (Todaro) Como, 83, of Warren passed away peacefully on Friday, Aug. 27, 2021. She was the dedicated loving wife of Anthony Como for 63 years before her passing.

Born in New York, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Peter T. and Salvatrice (Coniglio) Todaro.

Janet was a woman of great faith, a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Bristol, served as Eucharistic minister and a member of the Nocturnal Adoration Society at the church. Janet was the Religious Education teacher and Coordinator for 20 years at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Greenlawn, N.Y. She was also a Secular Franciscan and along with her husband was active for many years in Marriage Encounter for their former Diocese.

Janet loved spending time with children, especially her grandchildren. She also loved to bake and sew.

In addition to her husband Anthony, Janet also leaves behind her children: Francis Como, Rose Songer (William), and Gina Orszulak (Mark); her grandchildren: Cameron Songer, Rebecca Songer, Jeffrey Orszulak and Catherine Orszulak.

Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood St., Bristol, are 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, Sept.2, 2021, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 141 State St., Bristol. Burial will be private. Visiting hours will be Wednesday, Sept. 1, from 5 to 7 p.m. 

The family kindly requests mask use for the visitation and ceremonies.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
