The tourist season is upon us and our town is far from ready. The fresh red, white and blue lines are not painted on the main drag, the concert series has moved to RWU safely killing all the chaos and fun downtown but the public washrooms are still filthy on Thames street and the DPW employees living on our dime need a lesson in polite language in public places.
Tourists won’t come back to a nasty place even if it offers a ridiculously hazardous restricted access pool boat rather than a free dip at a good beach.
The Bristol Merchants Association on the other hand has made some significant retail improvements along the main drag which are a boon to us as permanent residents, so bravo on that score.
George Burman,
Bristol
Editor’s note: The stripes were painted the week of June 15.
