Inez Craig, 82, of Bristol

Inez (Hampson) Craig, 82, of Bristol passed away Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2020. She was born in Coventry, Rhode Island, the daughter of the late Harold and Inez (Rathbun) Hampson. Inez married William Craig on Jan. 18, 1958. They had four children together.

Inez was the sixth child in a family of 20 children. As a teen, she helped to care for her younger siblings and cousins, enjoyed roller-skating, and was very active in her church youth group. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandparents and helped to care for them in their later years.

She was passionate about education and encouraged her children to attend college. An avid reader, she loved reading about history. She enjoyed nature and the outdoors, camping when her children were young, spending time near the ocean, and watching the birds outside her windows.

Inez is survived by her four children, Robin Lee Craig (Mark Rzchowski), Linda Craig-Aguiar (Alvaro), David Craig, and James Craig; her grandchildren, Sophie Rzchowski, Anna Rzchowski, Lyndsey Aguiar Dutra (Brian), and Alan Aguiar; and four surviving sisters, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Inez was preceded in death by her parents and 15 siblings.

A service was held Wednesday, Sept. 23, with a private burial at the North Burial Ground in Bristol.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made in memory of Inez Craig to the Audubon Society of Rhode Island (ASRI). Gifts will be directed to the Audubon Nature Center in Bristol.
