Henry F. Serbst III passed away peacefully at St. Elizabeth’s Manor on April 6, 2021, with his family by his side. Henry recently lost his loving wife of 61 years, Anne Marie, in February of 2021. Henry was the proud father of his son, Michael Serbst, a retired lieutenant of the Bristol Police Department.

Henry over the years was a member of the U.S. Army Reserve from 1955 to 1967, and was in charge of Fire & Safety at both Kaiser Aluminum locations in Bristol and Portsmouth, R.I. When Kaiser closed their locations in Rhode Island, Henry became a Bristol police officer and earned the rank of sergeant.

In the mid-’70s, Henry left the Bristol Police to become a deputy state fire marshal for the State of Rhode Island, in which he served for over 25 years, retiring as Chief of Investigations. While at the Fire Marshal’s Office, he attended and graduated from the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Va.

Henry was also a former captain and life member of the Drednaught Hook, Ladder and Hose Company.

Henry loved his family and friends and watching the Pats every week.

He is survived by his son, Michael Serbst and wife, Michelle (Vento) Serbst. Proceeding Henry in death was his wife, Anne Marie (Proto) Serbst of 61 years, his mother, Gladys M. (Rodman) Serbst, his father, Henry F. Serbst II, and sisters Marylou (Serbst) Rogers and Rita (Serbst) Marra.

Visiting hours and funeral services are omitted. Burial will be private.
