Mrs. Frances C. “Connie” (Soja) LaFleur, age 91, of Sousa Street, Bristol, died peacefully Friday, Sept. 6, 2019, at St. Elizabeth’s Manor, Bristol, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Joseph P. LaFleur, her husband of 48 years, who preceded her in death in July of 2003.

Born in Springfield, Mass., and raised in Fall River, Mass., she was a daughter of the late Matthew and Michaelina (Filip) Soja. Connie received her Bachelor of Science degree as a Dental Hygienist from Forsythe College, part of Tufts University in Boston, Mass. She worked as a Dental Hygienist for over 35 years, first working for the Ramos Dental Practice in Bristol, for many years, and later in Nashua, N.H. and Mechanicsburg, Pa., until retiring in 1986 and returning to Bristol.

Connie was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church, Bristol, where she was the Senior Choir director for many years.  A lover of singing and music, she also sang with the East Bay Chorus and the Bristol Interfaith Choir for years.   She loved spending time with her family and loved to cook, as well as being an excellent seamstress.

She is survived by two children, Paul M. LaFleur (Tammy Medeiros) and Mary-Ann LaFleur Reed, both of Bristol, and three grandchildren, Brad W. LaFleur, Erin M. and Garret W. Reed. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Barbara Prayzner and Jeannie Read.

Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood St., Bristol, are Saturday, Sept. 21, 2019, at 10 a.m., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church, 330 Wood St., Bristol. Burial will follow in the Cremation Garden of North Burial Ground, Hope Street, Bristol.
