Florence Alice (Brace) Brown, 73, Bristol

Florence Alice (Brace) Brown, 73, of Fox Hill Avenue, Bristol, passed away on Jan. 27, 2022, at Vibra Hospital, New Bedford. She was the widow of the late James Brown.

She was the daughter of the late William Henry Brace and Joyce Marie Allen. She is survived by her children, Pamela Brown, James Brown, Jr. and Jo-Ann Manchester, all of Bristol; grandchildren, Zackary Daniel Brown and Louis Anthony Manchester, Jr.

Florence was a 1965 graduate of Colt Memorial High School and employed by Seabra Grocery for many years before retiring.

Her funeral services were held Jan. 31 from the George Lima Funeral Home.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
