Letter: Flags of allied nations also deserve respect
To the editor:
Last week’s Phoenix contained a completely ridiculous letter from an obviously misguided US veteran of Foreign Wars who should know better deriding one of his fellow American citizens for flying the flag of an allied country.
The foreign flag so offensive to the letter writer was flown in every combat mission in WW2, The Korean War, and the Gulf War, alongside and often in front of US troops and flyers.
The particular allied flag is flown in honor of several personal family members of our own, killed in foreign action not as enemies but as combatant warriors in the same foreign wars fought alongside US forces.
Shame on you, ret. Airman Antonevich for disrespecting a valiant ally’s flag.
