Final Barrington farmers market of season is Thursday

The Barrington Business and Community Association will host its final farmers market of the season on Thursday, Aug. 11. The event will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. at St. John’s church, across from the Barrington Shopping Center.

This summer was the first time the BBCA has hosted the farmers markets.

“It was a humbling experience trying to start this from scratch but the BBCA is incredibly proud of what we have been able to accomplish in our first year of hosting farmers markets,” said BBCA’s Bryan Hoffman.

He also shared thanks with St. John’s church for opening up their property for the markets.

“Having St. John's church as a site really worked about as perfectly as we could have hoped for and being able to have the communal experience of live music, great kids' activities and wonderful food, gifts and produce was wonderful,” Hoffman said.

This month’s farmers market promises more music, food and gifts. Organizers are expecting more than two dozen vendors, including Prickly Ed's Cactus Patch, Perfect Empanadas, LaFleur honey, We Be Jammin, Coast to Coasters, Art of the Gem, Water Way Farm, Juniper Hill Apothecary, Secrets in the Garden, Fetch Pet Care, Bee Mindful, Triton seafood, Lumpia Bros., Barrington Farm School, Simply Chickie, Pet Wants, Pita Pockets, Beth Bakes, Broadway Dough and more. The Emmett Van Leer Trio is expected to perform live music.

Hoffman said the BBCA is planning to host the farmers markets again next summer.

“We do hope to do this again next year and of course would like to see our number of vendors and visitors grow,” he said. “But all in all, we feel like it was great to bring events like back to Barrington and hope the people here in town feel the same way.”
