Bristol native Charlie Enright is notching yet another transatlantic race with his 11th Hour Racing team, skippering in the 2021 Transat Jacques Vabre, a double-handed crossing which started from Le Havre, France on Sunday, Nov. 7, en route to Martinique.

For this event, the celebrated local skipper is sharing the helm with Pascal Bidégorry onboard Malama, an IMOCA 60. The Team has a second IMOCA 60 competing, Alaka’i, skippered by Justine Mettraux and Simon Fisher. Together, they are the only US team in the IMOCA class. The race also includes classes for Class 40, Ocean Fifty, and Ultime vessels.

It’s a 5,800 nautical mile course (6,650 miles and 10,750 kilometres) total, that is forecasted to take about 17 days total. "As a team, it's a big day for us — a culmination of a whole year's work,” said Enright in a statement. “I very much hope that Pascal and I can do the race, and the team, justice."

At press time, Malama was sitting in 4th place and Alaka’i was in 7th out of a 22-boat fleet. The 11th Hour Racing Team will be publishing regular updates on their website, and you can follow along by visiting www.11thhourracingteam.org.
