Edward Dennis Simmons of Bristol died Wednesday, June 5.
Born in Providence, a son of the late Edward J. and M. Evelyn (McDermott) Simmons, he was the beloved husband of Joanne (Lever) Simmons, to whom he was married 48 years.
Before retiring, Mr. Simmons worked throughout his career in the financial sector. He also served in the Army Reserves. Ed was a loving and caring person who was devoted to his family and friends.
He was the loving father of Nicole Marie Coe (Jason Dassuncao) of Bristol.
He also leaves sisters, Patricia Trahan and husband Ernest; Jacqueline Wenger and husband Michael; Sandra Macomber and husband James; sister in-law Joan Ciotti; brothers-in-law, John Lever and wife Janet, Richard Metz and Frank Mello; nieces, Felicia A Turner (William), Kelsey Lever, Rene Santos, Kimberly Hayes, Jennifer Stompers and Rebecca Trahan; and nephews, Robert (Melissa) Lever, John (Molly) Resendes and Ernest Trahan II. He was the father in-law of the late Roy Coe; and brother in-law of the late Jacqueline Metz, Linda Ann Mello and Bernard Ciotti.
His funeral will be held Monday, June 10, 2019, at 8:30 a.m. from the SMITH FUNERAL and MEMORIAL SERVICES, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Mary of the Bay Church, 645 Main St., Warren. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 550 Wampanoag Trail, East Providence.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling Hours are Monday morning from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m.
