DUIs, domestic incidents top Portsmouth Police report

PORTSMOUTH — Here are some recent arrests made by the Portsmouth Police Department.

Monday, March 10

Ronald Rivera, 33, of 9 Chester Ave., Chelsea, Mass., was charged with operating a motor vehicle after his license had been suspended following a driving-under-the-influence (DUI) charge. He was pulled over for a motor vehicle infraction on West Main Road at Raytheon around 1:30 a.m.

Edward John Jolie, 39, of 62 Glen Road, was charged with domestic assault, as well as domestic vandalism that resulted in malicious injury to property, police said. Officers responded to Jolie’s home at about 8:20 p.m. after receiving a report of a disorderly, intoxicated man. When they arrived, two people were separated and Jolie was placed under arrest, police said. The victim was a 70-year-old man who lives in Portsmouth, according to police.

Tuesday, March 11

Paulo Ferreira, Jr., 20, of 476 Snell St., Apt. 1F, Fall River, was charged with operating a motor vehicle after his license had been suspended or revoked, his first offense. Ferreira was stopped for speeding on West Main Road at Raytheon shortly before 4 p.m., police said.

Amaury Reynoso, Jr., 27, of 196 Glenbridge Ave., Apt. 2, Providence, was charged with driving with a suspended license, his fourth offense. He was stopped on Route 24 South at Turnpike Avenue around 4:45 p.m. because his vehicle had an illegal window tint, according to police.

Sarah Victoria Bishop, 69, of 16 First St., Portsmouth, was charged with DUI, first offense; and disorderly conduct (making loud/disturbing noise). Officers responded to Sunny Acres on Bristol Ferry shortly before 9 p.m. after receiving a report of a possibly intoxicated driver, police said.

Thursday, March 13

Trevor James Mierta, 40, of 82 Mason Ave., was charged with domestic disorderly conduct. Officers made the arrest after responding to a call for service in the area of Park and Mason avenues shortly before 4 p.m.

Friday, March 14

Jesse R. Vasquez, 42, of 457 Main St., Apt. 4, East Haven, Conn., was charged with driving after his license had been suspended. He was pulled over for speeding on East Main Road at Glen Road at about 5:45 p.m. Police said Vasquez had also been operating an unregistered vehicle.

Saturday, March 15

Luke Andrew Devine, 39, of 1938 Main Road, Tiverton, was charged with DUI, first offense, after being pulled over on Turnpike Avenue around 3:15 a.m. Devine was also cited for refusing to submit to a chemical test.

Lorenzo Us Pojoy, 33, of 170 Wood St., Apt. 3, Providence, was arrested on several charges following a motor vehicle stop on West Main Road at Raytheon at about 9:30 a.m.: forgery and counterfeiting of registration plate; giving a false document to an agent or public official; and driving with a suspended license.

Alora Lee Gonsalves, 22, of 1240 Hope St., Bristol, was charged with DUI, first offense, after being pulled over on West Main Road at Freeborn Street around 2:30 p.m.

Michael Anthony Tate II, 28, of 296 Potters Ave., Providence, was charged with obstructing an officer in execution of duty, and resisting arrest, after he was pulled over on Ethel Drive around 6:30 p.m. After the traffic stop, officers learned the vehicle’s registration had been suspended and Tate’s driver’s license was expired, according to police. While officers were speaking to him, Tate became agitated and attempted to re-enter the driver’s side front seat of the vehicle, despite verbal commands not to do so, police said. Officers then attempted to restrain Tate, to which he actively resisted, according to police. 

Jerry Walter Walmsley, Jr., 45, of 1213 Cranston St., Cranston, was arrested on a warrant charging him with domestic willful trespass, his third offense. While on patrol, officers located Walmsley in the area of 2743 East Main Road around 7:35 p.m., police said. After being processed at the police station, he was placed in a holding cell before his arraignment by a justice of the peace. The victim was a 40-year-old woman from Portsmouth, according to police. 

David John Cappuccio, 35, of 5 Karli Lane, Bridgewater, Mass., was charged with DUI, first offense. His vehicle was pulled over on West Main Road shortly before 8 p.m. for multiple moving violations, including following another vehicle too closely, police said. 

Sunday, March 16

Maura Catherine Hession, 62, of 67 Lawton Ave., Tiverton, was charged with DUI, first offense; and failing to stop following an accident that resulted in damage to an attended vehicle. Officers were notified of a motor vehicle accident in the area of BankNewport, 2628 East Main Road, shortly before 6:30 p.m. When officers arrived in the bank’s parking lot, they were told the other vehicle involved in the accident was trying to leave the scene. Hession’s vehicle was located and stopped on East Main Road at Church Lane, police said. She was also cited for refusing a chemical test, police said.
