Claudio Jose Costa, 56, of Siegel Street passed away on May 9, 2019, at Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center. He lived graciously and courageously with cancer until the end.

Born in Santa Cruz, Flores, Azores, Portugal, he was the son of the late Jaime Melo and Alcina Maria (Banana) DaCosta. He is survived by his daughter, Cierra Costa of Bristol; siblings, Joe Costa of Bristol, Connie Furtado and her husband Alfredo of Bristol, Edite Arruda and her husband Hermano of Bristol, Marie Mauricio and her husband Joe of Fall River, Jaime Costa and his wife Chris of Warren, Salvador Costa of East Providence, and Anna Brown and her husband Mark of Falmouth, Mass., as well as many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Claudio Costa.

Claudio was employed by DeCastro Plastering for 15 years and the owner of the former Costa’s Fruitland for seven years. He enjoyed fishing and loved sharing all of his “catches” with family and friends.

His funeral services were held May 13 from the George Lima Funeral Home, with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by the Rev. Marinaldo Batista at St. Elizabeth’s Church. Liturgical readings were by Katerina Mauricio and Jillian Costa. The Prayer of the Faithful was read by Patricia Arruda, and the offertory gifts were presented by Connie Furtado, Edite Arruda and Marie Mauricio. The eulogy was given by Anna Brown.

Serving as pallbearers were Jason Furtado, Hermano Arruda II, Jaime Costa, Jose Mauricio, Mitchell Mauricio, Alex Furtado, Hermano Arruda and Alfredo Furtado.
