Bristol police officers made their first arrest in nearly a month, as the quiet streets of the 2020 pandemic continue.
Monday, May 4
Officers intervened in a verbal argument between a man and a woman at the intersection of Ferry Road and Sidney Street at 11:43 a.m.
An officer responded to Viking Drive at 12:07 p.m. for a reported of trespassing that turned out to be a “misunderstanding” between neighbors over a property line. It was apparently resolved before the officer arrived.
A 411 tipster reported loud music on State Street at 2:17 p.m. A patrolman used a noise meter to record a decibel level of 56, before advising the resident to turn down the usic.
A resident reported someone dumping white paint down the storm drain on Franca Drive.
At 6:44 p.m., a pedestrian flagged down an officer and reported a group of juveniles in a blue Toyota who were yelling at pedestrians.
Officers were called to 10 Ansonia Ave. at 9:03 p.m. for a reported physical altercation. They arrested Regina M. Brayton, 52, of that address, and charged her with domestic assault. She was arraigned at the station and released
Tuesday, May 5
Officers responded to Everett Street for a domestic disturbance at 11:21 a.m. Rescue was called to evaluate a juvenile.
A caller complained about a group of juveniles on the East Bay Bike Path who were not social distancing or wearing masks at 3:16 p.m. A lieutenant spoke to the group and advised them of current protocols.
An officer dispersed people loitering at Mt. Hope High School at 4:05 p.m.
At 7:54 p.m., a caller reported a man sleeping in a vehicle near the intersection of Lafayette and Leahy drives. A patrolman called a tow truck to the scene, and a 57-year-old was cited for driving with a suspended or revoked license-second offense.
Wednesday, May 6
DPW was notified that someone illegally dumped tires at the intersection of Roma and Magnolia streets.
Officers were called to a Hope Street business at 2:47 p.m. because of a customer who was not wearing a mask and was coughing in the store.
An officer dispersed a group of juveniles from the Colt School grounds at 5:12 p.m.
A Thompson Avenue resident filed an online report of unemployment benefits fraud.
Thursday, May 7
Someone reported seeing a subject in the backyard of a residence on Etelvina Court at 12:16 a.m. An officer investigated and found a homeowner out walking their dog.
At 3:19 a.m., a resident complained about a truck idling in the post office rear parking lot for allegedly three hours. A patrolman investigated and found an Amazon delivery driver who was waiting for postal employees to arrive.
DEM was notified of a vehicle that drove around the barriers at Colt State Park at 3:14 p.m.
At 4:30 p.m. a Greenway Drive resident complained about a neighbor who was shooting arrows and was concerned the arrows might hit his residence. An officer responded and spoke with both parties.
An officer was called to Hamlet Drive at 8:29 p.m. for a group larger than five people who had gathered in a driveway. An hour later, a 411 tipster reported a loud gathering in the same area of more than 10 people.
Friday, May 8
A patrolman was called to Murphy Avenue at 12:40 a.m. because of two people playing loud music within an apartment. They were advised to quiet down.
A 411 tipster reported a group of juveniles on the bike path at 3:11 p.m. not wearing face masks and not social distancing. An officer responded and found the kids keeping the appropriate separation.
Saturday, May 9
Officers were called to Baker Street at 1:59 a.m. for a reported verbal argument.
Someone reported a hair salon on Thames Street that was open and doing haircuts at 12:48 p.m. A sergeant responded and found there was a misunderstanding over the state’s health regulations; they shut the operation down.
Police received two complaints about fireworks in the area of State and Wood streets at 7:35 p.m. Officers responded but did not find any evidence.
Another fireworks complaint came from the area of Metacom Avenue and Gladding Street at 7:39 p.m.
A 411 tipster reported a large gathering on Garfield Avenue at 10:05 p.m.
An officer dispersed people from Narrows Point at 11:33 p.m.
Sunday, May 10
An officer dispersed people from Narrows Road at 1:10 a.m.
An officer questioned someone near the Mt. Hope Bridge at 1:23 a.m. It turned out to be someone playing Pokemon Go.
An officer warned the operators of two vehicles who were reportedly racing along Ballou Boulevard at 9:32 a.m.
A resident complained about people being outside without masks in the downtown area of Hope and State streets at 12:53 p.m.
A complainant reported a woman on a fire escape yelling at neighbors on Richmond Street at 2:30 p.m.
Officers issued citations on Harborview Avenue at 3:15 p.m. after finding vehicles parking there to access Colt State Park.
