Bristol Police: Sick skunk, noisy neighbors and peeing in public

Bristol police officers made just one arrest, on a court warrant, but had a busy week fielding calls from concerned residents reporting everything from sick skunks and foxes, to noisy neighbors, to a woman allegedly urinating on a downtown street corner.

Monday, Sept. 2

A caller reported an injured fox in the area of Washington and High streets at 9:30 a.m.

A Sousa Street caller complained about a neighbor driving a lawn mower on the streets at 11:29 a.m.

A caller reported a coyote in the area of Franklin and Magnolia streets at 11:35 a.m.

A caller reported seeing a woman urinating in public at the corner of Hope and State streets at 12:29 p.m.

A Church Street resident reported a bike stolen at 12:52 p.m.

An officer dispersed three people (two males and one female) who were riding bikes and disrupting traffic on Wood Street at 4:47 p.m.

A Sousa Street caller reported an issue with neighbors at 4:49 p.m.

An officer told multiple people to remove cars that were parked under the Mt. Hope Bridge at 6:15 p.m.

Tuesday, Sept. 3

An officer dispersed four people in a car from the Gooding Plaza parking lot at 12:46 a.m.

A caller reported a loud group of people outside yelling along First Street at 1:17 a.m.

At 7:29 p.m., a caller from Richmond Street complained that a neighbor was repeatedly screaming outside.

Wednesday, Sept. 4

At 3:59 a.m., a Wood Street caller complained about a sanitation company emptying dumpsters.

A caller from Colonial Road reported an animal in a tree at 8:29 a.m. An officer responded and determined it was not an animal, it was part of the tree.

Officers were called to a Broadcommon Road business for a verbal argument between an employer and employee over money.

A King Philip Avenue resident complained of check fraud at 8:21 p.m.

Officers dispersed a gold minivan with a man sleeping inside of it from a Hope Street location at 9:03 p.m.

Steven C. Lopes, 44, of Warren, was arrested on a District Court warrant at 10:21 a.m.

A neighbor complained about a loud TV playing with a window open on Beach Road at 10:41 p.m. An officer responded and advised the resident.

Thursday, Sept. 5

At 7:37 a.m., a Franca Drive resident reported vandalism to a car in their driveway.

A caller reported a coyote in the Guiteras School field at 10:33 a.m.

A caller complained of juveniles on a motorized skateboard in the area of Bradford and Thames streets at 6:01 p.m.

A caller from Union Street reported losing a set of ear pods at 9:03 p.m.

A resident on Cole Street reported loud people in the area at 9:37 p.m.

Friday, Sept. 6

A 21-year-old was cited for urinating in public at 12:06 a.m. in the area of Constitution and Hope streets.

A Prospect Street resident complained of someone being loud and throwing bottles at 12:10 a.m.

A caller complained of people talking loudly on State Street at 1:03 a.m.

A resident complained of something burning in the area of Hope and Oliver streets at 2:30 a.m. An officer advised homeowners with a fire pit to extinguish the fire.

A resident on Dartmouth Street complained of damage to a tree from a DPW truck.

An officer responded to Court Street for a noise complaint at 11:19 p.m.

Saturday, Sept. 7

A resident on Burke Road reported a loud noise in the area at 5:42 a.m. An officer responded but found nothing.

A caller from High and Church streets called police to report he saw fox in the area at 12:57 p.m.

A caller from Siegel Street reported hearing a man yelling at a child. An officer responded and said it was a father disciplining a child.

A Second Street resident called to request removal of an unwanted person on his property at 3:04 p.m.

A caller from Pearse Avenue reported a fox lying on the side of their house and appearing sick at 3:54 p.m. DEM was called to respond.

A caller reported theft from a truck on Francine Street at 5:13 p.m.

A Second Street caller complained of fireworks at 6:43 p.m.

Officers investigated a possible assault on Murphy Avenue involving a gold vehicle with black rims and four males inside.

Someone complained of loud music from the Bristol Harbor Inn at 9:36 p.m.

A caller from Anthony Avenue reported her ex-husband parked in front of her house at 10:22 p.m.

A resident complained of a small gathering with loud music in a backyard on Cole Street at 11:19 p.m.

Sunday, Sept. 8

Officers questioned and called rescue to assist a man at the corner of State and High streets at 12:21 a.m.

Officers cited two 20-year-olds for underage possession of alcohol after responding to a house party on Easterbrooks Avenue at 1:23 a.m.

A neighbor complained of loud individuals on Court Street at 1:50 a.m.

A caller reported vandalism to windows on the Robin Rug building on Thames Street at 9:33 a.m.

A caller reported of a sickly fox at Independence Park at 11:03 a.m.

Officers investigated a domestic dispute on Adelaide Avenue at 12:23 p.m. It was a verbal argument between mother and son.

A caller reported seeing a man in a Silver pickup truck dumping a TV in the woods at Narrows Point at 1:15 p.m.
