Bristol Police: Quiet week with a few social distancing and firepit complaints

For a second straight week, there were no arrests in Bristol, but the calls for neighbors breaking the rules continued.

Monday, April 20

An operator from E-911 contacted Bristol Police to let them know that a caller was reporting a suspicious vehicle with New York plates at a residence on Poppasquash Road. The caller apparently contacted the “suspicious” residence, and the person who answered the phone said they live there and hang up.

At 12:29 p.m., a caller reported six vehicles at a house on Lafayette Drive and was concerned that people inside were not social distancing. An officer investigated, spoke with the tenants and found no problem.

A resident reported dogs loose in the field at Vets’ Park on Wood Street at 1:12 p.m.

A 411 tipster reported two juveniles in the bushes at Independence Park at 1:32 p.m.

Someone reported hearing people yelling and swearing at Belltower Plaza at 4:13 p.m. A patrolman responded to the back of the complex and found four people outside. They were advised to move things inside.

A 411 tipster reported a group of juveniles under the Mt. Hope Bridge on Lower Ferry Road at 5:19 p.m. An officer responded but they had left the area.

A 411 tipster reported someone power-washing a boat on Burnside Street, because the paint was running into the storm drain. A patrolman responded and the man agreed to clean up paint chips in the area.

An officer dispersed someone from Hamlet Drive at 10:16 p.m.

Tuesday, April 21

Officers responded to a domestic disturbance on Ryan Avenue at 11:29 a.m.

A resident complained about a neighbor’s trash being blown around on Metacom Avenue. An officer responded and spoke with the property manager.

A caller reported a reckless operator in a gray Mercedes near the intersection of Narrows Road and Metacon Avenue at 4:23 p.m. An officer found the vehicle in the Stop and Shop parking lot and advised the driver of the state’s quarantine order.

Wednesday, April 22

A 411 tipster reported three juveniles not social distancing at the corner of Wood and Bradford streets at 1:55 p.m.

Someone reported a man camping in the woods at the Tee Pees near the Mt. Hope Boat Ramp.

A Fales Road resident filed on online report of neighbor harassment.

Officers responded to a 911 call at 3:16 p.m. on Hopeworth Avenue that turned out to be a dispute between parents and child.

A caller reported a large group of people walking on Pearse Avenue with signs at 6:23 p.m.

A caller reported a man and woman outside arguing on Etelvina Court at 7:39 p.m. A patrolman checked the area but did not find anything wrong.

An officer spoke to the two parties involved after a Wood Street resident reported being frequently harassed by an upstairs neighbor.

Thursday, April 23

A caller reported a building on Franklin Street had been vandalized with spraypaint at 10:53 a.m.

Officers responded to Dominic Court after receiving a 911 call about a man yelling at a woman and banging on a car. They found a car with New York plates at the residence, but there were no arrests.

Friday, April 24

An officer investigated a report of people being loud of the front porch of a Hope Street residence at 1:34 a.m.

Officers took a report from the Dunkin’ Donuts on Gooding Avenue after a regular customer got upset and threw coffee at the “spit shield” separating employees from customers at 11:16 a.m. The woman left before officers arrived.

Saturday, April 25

Police issued a no-trespass order to someone after investigating alleged threats made at the Bristol Food Mart on Wood Street.

Officers dispersed 10 people who were playing baseball at Vets’ Park on Wood Street at 1:04 p.m.

A caller reported a potentially illegal open burning at the end of Beach Road at 4:19 p.m. A patrolman investigated and found a legal fire pit in the backyard, which was producing some smoke because the wood was wet.

Two people were told to leave Sowams Park on Sweeney Lane after they allegedly removed caution tape at around 4:40 p.m.

A caller reported a neighbor cutting down and burning brush along Cliff Drive at 5:30 p.m. The brush-cutter called police preemptively to report he was using a fire pit, and he offered to move it if necessary.

Officers issued a no-trespass order to a man who was inside Seabra, using profanity and allegedly harassing female customers at 6:23 p.m.

A Sherman Avenue resident reported fireworks in the area at 8:31 p.m.

Someone reported a loud party at a Metacom Avenue residence at 10:48 p.m.

Sunday, April 26

Somoene reported 10 people in a driveway on Academy Avenue, not adhering to social distancing guidelines at 12:15 p.m.

A Waterman Street resident filed an online report that their vehicle’s mirror had been damaged by a shopping cart at Stop and Shop.
