Bristol Police: Arrests for DUI and domestic assaults

Bristol police officers made several arrests from June 17 to 23, including one person for driving under the influence, and a couple of others for domestic assault. One man was arrested twice in the same day. See a log of police activities from the week:

Monday, June 17

Timothy M. Wengenroth, 30, of East Freetown, Mass., was charged with a District Court warrant.

A Fernwood Road resident reported larceny by a moving company.

Tresspassers were dispersed from a private dock on Griswold Avenue at 6:53 p.m.

Tuesday, June 18

An officer took a report of a neighbor dispute on Richmond Street.

A Prospect Street resident complained of harassment from an ex-boyfriend.

Darrell Pona, 58, of 680 Hope St., Bristol, was taken into custody on a Superior Court warrant and later transported to the ACI.

A First Street resident reported vandalism at 6:18 p.m.

An officer advised a parent about juveniles riding ATVs on the roadway on Scott Lane.

An Ambrose Court resident called to report a neighbor putting a weapon in the trunk of his vehicle at 7:18 p.m. Officers responded but were unable to locate the man.

A Coggeshall Avenue resident complained of fireworks at 9:33 p.m.

Wednesday, June 19

A dog owner at Mt. Hope Farm was advised of the town’s leash law at 10:42 a.m.

A Church Street resident reported vandalism to an automobile.

A caller from Monkey Wrench Lane reported a Social Security scam, though no money was exchanged.

Officers responded to the Portuguese Independent Club on Wood Street for a reported argument between two men at 6:22 p.m. The officers were unable to located the men.

An officer dispersed three vehicles and their occupants from Narrows Point at 11:48 p.m.

Thursday, June 20

A caller from Fort Hill Road reported larceny at 2:21 p.m. after a delivery driver mistakingly handed a package to the wrong person. A patrolman said the package was recovered, after the people who took it threw it out of their vehicle as they fled the area.

Carlos A. Medeiros, 39, of 409 Metacom Ave., Bristol, was charged with domestic assault after being taken into custody shortly after 10 p.m. He was arraigned at the station and released.

A resident on Larson Court filed a noise complaint about power tools being used at 11:20 p.m.

Friday, June 21

An officer took a report of a dispute between neighbors on State Street at 1:03 a.m.

A neighbor called police at 2:01 a.m. after allegedly witnessing a man pushing a woman and preventing her from leaving in a vehicle on Wood Street. Jhonathan Cruz-Cruz, 31, of 102 Constitution St., Bristol, was charged with domestic assault. He was arraigned at the station and released.

An officer dispersed four fishermen who were on private property on Griswold Avenue at 4:13 p.m.

Officers responded to Portside Road at 4:27 p.m. and took into custody Jhonathan Cruz-Cruz, 31, of 102 Constitution St., Bristol, who had been arrested earlier in the day (see above). He was charged with violation of a no-contact order at the station and transported to the ACI.

Saturday, June 22

A caller fro San Juan Drive complained about a woman lying on her porch at 12:24 a.m.

A dog owner was given a verbal warning for letting their dog run free at Independence Park at 10:33 a.m.

An officer dispersed several people from underneath the Mt. Hope Bridge at 10:35 a.m.

A resident complained of a loud group of people on Murphy Avenue at 10:14 p.m.

A Sousa Street resident complained of noise at 10:41 p.m.

A caller on Bay View Avenue complained of loud music at 11:01 p.m.

A Wood Street resident reported a bike stolen at 11:27 p.m.

Sunday, June 23

Officers helped removed an unwanted person from a Middleton Road residence at 12:22 a.m.

A resident complained about a loud group of people walking home for the evening in the area of Bay View Avenue and High Street at 1:20 a.m.

A caller from King Philip Avenue reported a loud group of people at 2:05 a.m.

A Franklin Street resident reported people egging her vehicle.

A Washington Street resident reported vandalism to their vehicle at 9:20 a.m.

After a neighbor called to request officers check on her neighbor on State Street at 10:47 a.m., officers arrested Kenneth Valentine, 31, of Providence. He was charged with a District Court warrant and transported to the ACI.

A man was dispersed from Gray’s Ice Cream on Thames Street after allegedly harassing customers at 9:15 p.m.

Someone complained of loud music from Thames Waterside at 11:40 p.m. An officer responded and found no violations or problems.

Monday, June 24

Officers responded to the intersection of Wood Street and Bay View Avenue at 1:18 a.m. after someone reported seeing a silver Toyota stopped at the intersection for more than 5 minutes. An officer found the vehicle on Bay View Avenue after it was involved in an accident. An officer requested rescue, and the driver was taken to Newport Hospital with a possible head injury. Daniel DeMelo Jr., 25, of 45 Richmond St., Bristol, was charged with DUI and refusal to submit to a chemical test and released from the hospital.
