Bristol Police: Arrests for domestic assault and tampering with fire apparatus

Bristol Police arrested two people in one domestic violence incident and responded to the usual array of calls about noisy students and noisy neighbors. Following is a log of police incidents from Sept. 30 to Oct. 6.

Monday, Sept. 30

After responding to a domestic disturbance on State Street at 8:45 a.m., officers arrested two people. Kiara Marie Costa, 19, of 217 State St., Apt. 2R, and Jeanine L. Garcia, 36, of 217 State St., Apt. 2S, was each charged with domestic assault. They were both taken to the station, processed and brought to District Court in Providence.

Someone reported a man running through the yard of an abandoned house on Sowams Drive at 8:29 p.m. An officer responded and everything was secure.

Officers responded to the intersection of Church and Hope streets for a man and woman having a verbal argument in the street at 10:47 p.m. There were no arrests.

Tuesday, Oct. 1

A caller from Normand Street asked police to check the area for a group of individuals at 3:28 a.m. They were gone upon arrival.

Wednesday, Oct. 2

Brian Silvia, 47, of Fall River, responded to the Bristol Police Station at 7:06 a.m. and was charged with a warrant for interference with a fire alarm apparatus and fourth-degree arson. He was taken to District Court for arraignment.

A caller reported an injured goose on the East Bay Bike Path near Poppasquash Road at 8:07 a.m. The animal control officer reported that the goose has a broken wing but is in good health otherwise.

A tractor trailer carrying wood struck and damaged the traffic light at the intersection of Metacom Avenue and Chestnut Street at 10:12 a.m. DOT was called to the scene.

A caller reported an injured squirrel at Silver Creek Manor at 12:11 p.m.

A Prospect Street resident reported vandalism at 9:10 p.m.

Thursday, Oct. 3

An officer was called to Midland Farms on Wood Street at 12:28 p.m. to help remove an unwanted person.

Officers took a report of a past neighbor dispute on Basswood Road at 3:04 p.m.

Friday, Oct. 4

Officers dispersed people from the area of Annawamscutt Drive and Rosedale Drive at 12:41 a.m.

A caller reported a large group of college kids being noisy in the area of State Street and Ryan Avenue at 1:16 a.m.

A caller reported damage to a car windshield on Sunnyside Avenue at 9:35 a.m.

Police received two calls from people following an apparent road rage incident between the driver of a vehicle and a bicyclist in the area of Constitution and Wood streets at 6:35 p.m. An officer responded and took a report.

Saturday, Oct. 5

An officer dispersed nine people from an area under the Mt. Hope Bridge on Lower Ferry Road at 12:39 a.m.

A caller from Smith Street asked officers to respond and address a daughter who was being unruly at 1:23 p.m.

An officer responded to the Bristol Harbor Inn on Thames Street and dispersed two juveniles who were banging on car doors at 6:30 p.m.

An officer dispersed people who were being noisy from the area of High Street and Bay View Avenue at 10:43 p.m.

Officers were called to Robin Drive at 10:44 p.m. for an elderly man who was honking a car horn. Rescue was called to the scene.

An officer responded to a Bradford Street residence at 10:47 p.m. for a complaint of loud music. It turned out to be a man who was playing guitar and agreed to shut it down for the night.

Officers were called to Blithewold on Ferry Road to assist with an unruly man who was refusing to leave at 10:51 p.m. He ended up leaving on a bus.

Sunday, Oct. 6

A small group of people on Cooke Street at 12:05 a.m. agreed to move things in for the night after a neighbor complained of noise.

A dogsitter agreed to bring in barking dogs at 1:20 a.m. after a neighbor on Villa Avenue complained.

A caller complained about a loud group of people on Normand Street at 1:20 a.m. Officers responded but could not locate the group.

An officer spoke to juveniles who were pulling on fencing and swings at the Cedar Crest Park on Fatima Drive at 12:45 p.m.

Two people were dispersed from the Church Street dock shortly before midnight.
