Bristol PD: Bristolians not a fan of New Years fireworks

Bristol police responded to multiple fireworks complaints as the New Year rang out throughout the region, but made no arrests this past week.

Monday, Dec. 27
A motor vehicle accident between two cars resulting in injuries was reported at 1:21 p.m. at the intersection of Metacom and Gooding Avenues. A stop sign was struck.

A past larceny which occurred in Independence Park was reported at 2:26 p.m. where the reporting party stated he was threatened into giving his gold chain to two male suspects.

Police dispersed a fight occurring near the ball park at Wood and Perry Streets at 8:56 p.m.

Tuesday, Dec. 28
The illegal dumping of a couch on State Street was reported at 8:45 a.m. DPW was notified.

A bird was reportedly trapped in a building on Hope Street at 10:29 a.m. Animal control was on the scene to render assistance.

A complaint on Ferry Road regarding a suspicious bag on a doorstep at 11:47 a.m. turned out to be a Christmas plant that was left on the property.

Wednesday, Dec. 29
Online fraud activity was reported on Ryan Avenue at 11:52 a.m.

A caller reported that there was a motor vehicle traveling with somebody holding onto the roof near DeWolf Avenue and State Street at 5:53 p.m. Police did not locate the activity.

Thursday, Dec. 30
A reckless BMW driver was reported in the area of the Mt. Hope boat ramp at 3:50 p.m.

A reckless Mercedes driver was reported in the area of Hope Street and Elm Farm Road at 8:21 p.m. Nobody was located.

Friday, Dec. 31
Police checked on an unattended vehicle in the Mt. Hope High School parking lot at 12:11 a.m.

An expired animal was dealt with on Metacom Avenue at 11:22 a.m.

Saturday, Jan. 1
Fireworks complaints were reported at 12:17 a.m. in the area of Basswood Road but were not identified by police.

Fireworks were reported at 12:29 a.m. in the area of Wood and State Streets but were again unidentified by police.

Another fireworks complaint came in at 1:28 a.m. in the area of Hopeworth Avenue but were not identified by police.

Vandalism in the form of a broken back window was reported on Mulberry Road at 9:20 a.m.

A robbery involving a man wearing a hoodie and possibly possessing a knife was reported at Franklin and Hope Streets at 5:49 p.m. Police were not able to locate the suspect.

Sunday, Jan.2
A caller reported at 6:53 p.m. that a man was standing in front of a residence on Cliff Drive “making threats towards a family member,” but police reported there was no issue when they responded.

A deceased animal was removed from the area of Metacom Avenue and Sowams Drive at 11:14 p.m.
