Barbara E. Ribeiro, 86, of Bristol

Barbara E. (St. Onge) Ribeiro, age 86, of Bristol, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2019, at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence. She was the wife of the late Anthony “Pickles” Ribeiro.

Born in Warren, a daughter of the late Arthur St. Onge and Ida (Houle) Wagstaff, she had been a longtime resident of Bristol and had wintered in Polk City, Fla., for over twenty years.

A wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she loved riding on the back of her daughter, Diane “Pickles” motorcycle and was a former member of the RI Re-Treads Motorcycle Group. She enjoyed bowling, playing bocce and loved spending time with her grand-dog, Tula.

She is survived by two daughters, Denise Lopes and her husband Mannie of East Providence, and Diane “Pickles” Ribeiro and her long-time boyfriend Dennis Soares of Bristol; one son, Anthony Ribeiro of Bristol; one brother, Roland St. Onge and his wife Martha of Bristol; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late Pauline Caouette, Arthur and Henry St. Onge.

Her funeral service will be held Saturday, Aug. 17, 2019, at 9 a.m. in the Wilbur-Romano Funeral Home, 615 Main St., Warren. Visiting hours are Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bristol.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
