Anna L. (Mariano) DaPonte, 85, passed away on Monday Oct. 12, 2020, at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence.
Born in Bristol, R.I., she spent the last 43 years of her life with her husband, Albert A. DaPonte. She was the daughter of the late Mary (DeGeorgio) and Tindaro Mariano.
Anna was a member of the Class of 1954 at Colt High School. She worked for many years as a cashier at Almacs. Anna was a communicant and member of the Rosary Alter Society at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.
In her free time, Anna enjoyed spending time with her family. She loved to cook and entertain her family at home. As the years passed and stamina diminished her joy and love for entertaining, her family turned to special holiday and special occasion dinners at a few of her favorite restaurants. As a testament to her special place in people’s hearts, her favorite restaurants would always provide a special room or section for her to entertain, complete with her favorite waitress and servers.
The greatest pride and joy in her life were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her eyes and smile would light the room when they arrived for a visit.
In addition to her husband Albert, Anna is survived by her two sons and their wives, George Rigo (Eve) and Thomas Rigo (Keeley). She also leaves behind two grandchildren, Leanne Walker (Tim) and Marc Rigo (Lauren). Anna is also survived by her three great-grandchildren: Grace Walker, Liam Walker, and Stella Rigo.
Anna was predeceased by her parents and her sister, Francis Brown.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2020, at 10 a.m. inside Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 141 State St., Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in her name can be made to the America Cancer Society of Rhode Island, 931 Jefferson Blvd, Warwick, RI 02886.
