Ann Marie Lee (Buchanio)

Posted

It is with heavy hearts we announce that Ann Marie Lee (Buchanio) passed peacefully at home surrounded by love on Aug. 4, 2021. A matriarch who leaves behind a legacy of love, strength and positivity, Ann was born on Feb. 27, 1941, to the late Madeline and Anthony J. Buchanio.

The beloved wife of John “Jack” D. Lee, of 58 years, she was loving mother of two sons, Anthony Lee of Attleboro and John Lee of Bristol, and daughter Sheila Perry and her husband John of Coventry. Sister of the late Donald A. “Donnie” Buchanio. Cherished grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and cousin. Devoted friend.

Ann was a resident of Sandwich for the past 25 years. She previously lived in Franklin, Attleboro and Bristol, where she and her husband owned the Donut Barn from 1974 to 1989.

Ann was a talented crocheter and amazing cook. She enjoyed spending time at the beach and local boardwalk. Her pride and joy was her family, and above all, she loved spending time together. She was an inspiration to all who crossed her path.

Relatives and friends will be asked to join us on a future date for a Celebration of Life in Ann’s honor. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Ann’s name to the Malloy Strong Fund at the Lifespan Cancer Institute, 139 Point St., Providence, RI 02903.

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
